Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science + Master of Science (MS) in System Science is a collaborative (1year+1year) Degree Program between CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus and Binghamton University, New York. Students will study for one year in India at CHRIST University and one year in USA at Binghamton University, resulting in a Master of Science in Systems Science from Binghamton University.

The Master’s Programme is a comprehensive course with a focus on developing skills in emerging technologies, statistical analysis, and computational techniques. The curriculum with courses in Statistical Inference and Calculus is designed to help students develop knowledge in Data Science theory. Tools like Hadoop and Natural Language Processing are well integrated in the course to provide hands-on experience in relevant domains. The programme also provides exposure to research models and industry-standard applications in data science through various guest lectures, seminars, projects and internships. The combination of in-depth theoretical concepts and practical application aims to sharpen the data science skillsets of the students and make them ready for the competitive job market.
NRI Category
Students who fall under any of the following classifications, at the time of application may apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the course.
- NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law
- Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.
- Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.
- Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India.
- Indian citizen pursued studies for qualifying examination in foreign syllabi in India.
Note: If only condition 5 is satisfied, and not conditions 1 to 4 above, NRI student category fee will be applicable only for the first year.

Selection Process
For CHRIST University graduate students to be admitted into the 1+1 Program, the students also need to satisfy the following conditions:
- Show sufficient English Proficiency at or above the level required by Binghamton University for international student admission. The current requirement is one of the following:
- Internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL iBT): minimum score of 80 (Note: TOEFL iBT MyBest scores are accepted).
- TOEFL Essentials: minimum score of 9 (Note: TOEFL Essentials MyBest scores are accepted).
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 with no band below 5.0
- PTE Academic: minimum score of 53.
- Duolingo English Test: minimum score of 105 (Binghamton University has temporarily allowed the Duolingo English Test as proof of English Language Proficiency through the 2023 application cycle.
- Have proof of sufficient funds to cover all the expenses for one year of study at Binghamton University.
Binghamton University should receive all required application materials by March 31st for Fall admission of the same year.
Terms of Admission:
When students are admitted into the 1+1 Program, the students will be admitted into the master’s program in Systems Science. Because 1+1 students are registered as graduate students throughout their study at Binghamton University, all 1+1 students must take at least one graduate course every semester at Binghamton University. Students may elect to enroll in an English as a Second Language (ESL) course (if a seat is available), but they are not required to do so. To fulfill Binghamton University’s graduation requirements, the 1+1 students must complete at least 24 graduate-level credits (8 graduate courses) while at Binghamton.
Eligibility
A candidate who has passed an Undergraduate degree in BCA/Science with 50 % aggregate marks from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU is eligible to apply.
Students must fulfill either criteria A or B described below in order to be eligible for the course:
- Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA).
- OR
- BE/B Tech/Under Graduate degree in Science with any two of the following subjects as major or minor (minimum of two years of learning)
- Computer Science
- Mathematics
- Statistics
Students appearing for their final degree examinations in March-May 2024 are also eligible to apply. Applicants who are in the last year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far.

It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for two years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
- Indian nationals pursuing international curriculum in India, will pay the fee applicable for NRI status for the first year. Indian citizens who have studied foreign syllabus in India for the qualifying examination (applying for UG / PG / MPhil / PhD Programme has to be approved by UGC / AIU). (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).

- NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
- Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
- Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
- To claim the Indian category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).
- Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.
- All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option:
- Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS
- Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.
Syllabus
Application Process
All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID and set a password. (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.
Guidelines to applicants
- Copy of statement of marks of class 10 and class 12 Board result (Mandatory).
- Semester/Year wise Marks Card/ Consolidated marks.
- Fill in all the details in the “detailed application” page. Scan and upload a recent passport size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background) and click “Submit”. On clicking Submit, a viewable and editable page will appear on the screen. In case you need to make any corrections; you may edit the data/details and then click “Confirm Submission”.
- Candidates must choose the preferred date from available options, before making the payment for the application.
- Payment may be made through Credit / Debit Card / Net banking facility. After successful payment, click on submit. A 9 (Nine) digit Application number will be generated. All applicants must make a note of the username, password, application number of the programme applied .
- After the payment is successful you will receive the application number with the option to save your application form (if filling the application prior to the declaration of class XII result).
- No application will be considered if submitted by COURIER or POST.

- Photocopy of Class 10 & 12 Marks Card (Mandatory).
- Provisional degree/ Degree Certificate and Consolidated mark card/mark cards of all the semesters.
- Internet copy Valid Category Certificate (For candidates from Karnataka PU applying under various categories) (Mandatory).
- Baptism Certificate from the Parish Priest / Pastor for Karnataka Christian Students (Mandatory).
- Registration Payment Receipt from ICAI (Applicable for BCom F & A only).
- 1 recent passport size and 1 stamp size photographs in formal dress of (Photo size of 35mm x 45mm with white background only - Standard Indian Passport Format only). The application may be rejected if the photograph is not according to the specification.
- Copy of signed application form. Keep a copy of the application form for further reference.
Candidates falling under any of these categories (NRI / PIO / OCI / SAARC / AFRICA / ASEAN / OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS) have to submit:
- Copy of Passport and Visa Details (Mandatory).
- Candidates applying under PIO or OCI have to produce the copy of PIO or OCI card whichever is applicable (Mandatory).
Candidates, who are unable to print the application form due to system / power / internet failure, may log on to the “Application Status” link and enter your email id, password and captcha details to view and print the application form.
After processing the Application Forms, the cut off percentage will be declared and displayed on the University notice board / University website. No postal / telephonic / e-mail communication will be given from the University. The University does not authorize any individual or organization to operate on its behalf.
Admission Process
Candidates will be intimated about the Selection status (Selected / Waitlisted / Not Selected) through the “Application Status” link on the University website. The Selection results will be declared as mentioned in the important dates link.
Note: Candidates must note that if selected, admission is provisional and subject to University rules.
To process admission
- Candidates must choose the preferred date and time from available options to facilitate a smooth admission process.
- Admission must be processed at the campus where the programme is offered as published in the offer of admission.
- As per UGC guidelines, fee payment has to be made through online/NEFT mode.
- Payment options and details will be available in the Offer of admission.
- Fees for the first year including the Admission Registration fee must be paid in full as part of the admission process.
All original marks cards and one set of photocopies must be submitted for verification at the time of admission as mentioned below
- Class 10 Marks Statement (Mandatory).
- Class 12 Marks Statement, if candidate has appeared and passed the examination (Mandatory).
- Photocopy of Degree Marks Card (if result awaited, marks card available currently) (Mandatory).
- Photocopy of Provisional degree certificate / Convocation certificate, if candidate has completed / graduated from the qualifying programme (Mandatory).
- Transfer Certificate (TC) of undergraduate degree from the last qualified institution (Mandatory).
- Migration Certificate of undergraduate degree from qualifying University (applicable for all candidates except those studying in Maharashtra) (Mandatory).
- Gap certificate in case of academic break.

Candidates falling under any of these categories (NRI / PIO / OCI / SAARC / AFRICA / ASEAN / OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS) have to submit
- Copy of Passport and Visa Details (Mandatory)
- PIO / OCI have to produce the copy of PIO / OCI card whichever is applicable (Mandatory).
- Medical Fitness Certificate (MFC) from any recognized medical practitioner certified by the Medical Council of India and
- Resident Permit (RP) (If available while applying)
All mandatory documents must be submitted for verification during the admission process
An undertaking for pending original documents unavailable currently [applicable only for candidates writing/passing their exam in March – June 2024], must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. These documents must be submitted on or before 31 August, 2024.
Failure to submit the pending documents will be treated as unsuccessful in the qualifying examination or considered “Not Eligible” and admission will be terminated from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) without any claim.
All admitted students must open an account at South Indian Bank, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Branch as part of the admission process and must carry relevant ID proof (Aadhar Card and Pan Card).
The University ID card is a smart card, which is both an ID cum ATM card with a chip containing the student personal details. All transactions within the University campus after commencement of classes, including fee payment will be processed only through this card. It is also an access card for Library and other restricted places.
Selected candidates who fall under International student category (ISC) should register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO / FRO) of the Local Police in Pune, India within 14 working days from the date of admission or arriving in Pune.
The date of commencement of the academic Year 2025 will be intimated during the admission process.
- The decision of the admission committee is final and binding.
International Category
- Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:
- Foreign citizens
- PIO card holders
- OCI (Dual Citizens)
International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:
- Produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or
- Have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores
Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for
- Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or
- One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.
Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.
Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.
Candidates seeking admission through the International Student category (Foreign Nationals/PIO/OCI) will have a separate application process, with the following options to apply for any programme at Christ University.
Miscellaneous Information
- The University does not collect any type of Capitation / Donation other than the fee mentioned in the website.
- If the Application is incomplete or incorrect, the University Management has the right to reject it.
- Kindly do not send any original marks cards through post or courier.
- The Online application form will be processed by the Office of Admissions only on receipt of the online payment acknowledgment slip copy and all supporting documents.
- The institution is not responsible for any application reaching after the stipulated date /time and such applications will not be processed.
- Ignorance of the Terms, Conditions and guidelines will not be considered as an excuse for non-fulfillment of any stipulated process.
- It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for 2 years, there will be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
- Fees should be paid within the stipulated date for the first year and before the commencement of final examinations of 2nd semester for the second year.
- All those admitted to the programme will have to purchase a laptop at their own cost.
- Admitted students who wish to avail Bank Loan will be provided a recommendation letter on request by presenting the original fee paid receipt to the Office of Admissions.
- The college does not provide loans and has no partnerships with banks for this purpose
- The decision of the Admission Committee is final and binding.
