Committed to amplifying the student body’s voice, the Student Council acts as a catalyst for progress by coordinating initiatives and representing the diverse interests and concerns of the student population.
To fulfill its various functions, the Council has constituted several committees, including the Bus Committee, Food Committee, Campus Monitoring Committee, Documentation Committee, Events Committee, Website Committee, Social Media Committee, and Training Committee. Additionally, the Student Council plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant campus culture by organizing events and initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote social interaction, and create a sense of belonging. These activities include Orientation Sessions, Acclimatization and Induction Programmes, Fresher’s Week, monthly Open Forums, Holi Celebrations, Daksh, Teachers’ Day, Gratitude Week, and regular meetings with the Director. The Student Council also collaborates with various departments and centers on these initiatives.
One of the best practices of the Student Council is the Open Forum, which provides a platform for students to express their concerns and articulate their expectations to the management in a streamlined and formal manner. For instance, during the water crisis in Lavasa, when basic necessities were scarce for residents, the council members reached out to various authorities, newspapers, and government officials. They also collaborated with the management to ideate and implement measures to address the issue.
The Student Council’s focus extends beyond event management to include curriculum development, campus facility maintenance, promoting student welfare and concerns, assisting student service centers, and interlinking stakeholders to build a stronger community. The Council also engages in enhancing student participation, maintaining general discipline, assisting committees such as the Anti-Ragging and POSH committees, implementing new campus projects and ideas, creating new programs and initiatives, and fostering growth and interaction among student bodies. Through these activities, the Student Council strives to create an environment that supports the holistic development of students.
